Poker Strategy

Strategy  section is devoted to the many different aspects of poker strategy. Your ability as a poker player will be judged by how well you know and incorporate  poker strategy.

Each different type of  poker has its own Poker strategy as the different rules lend themselves to different types of tactics and planning. Part of being a great poker player is being strong at each of the different types of poker variants. These Poker strategy guides will assist you with that if you are weak in a certain type of poker.
Texas Holdem Poker Strategies :

Hold`em is basically HIGH card game. The players holding two good high cards have the best chance at the best hand or a draw to the best hand after the flop. Only play strong hands, that will stand a raise or multiple raises, from early betting positions. Play medium strength and other playable hands from the later positions if you have a good chance of seeing the flop at a reasonable price. Play strong high hands MOST of the time, and play them very aggressively. Take all the raises you can get. If you don`t thin out the competition, you reduce your chances of winning. Plus, your aggressive play before the flop can add credibility to any strong play you might want to use on the next round if a garbage flop falls and you want to try a steal. Be ready to fold your high pair if you get a lot of action with a threatening flop.

Seven Card Stud PokerStrategies :

7 Card Stud (High) has long been a casino table favorite, recently supplanted by Texas Hold `em as poker`s premier game.  7 Stud is still a very popular game, and is actually my favorite.  There are plenty of 7 card stud games to be found online as well.  Absolute Poker has active games from micro limits to $5/$10.  Caribbean Sun and the Poker Room network have a good base of 7 card stud players.  Finally, for you high limit players, you can toss $100 chips into the pot at Party Poker`s 7 Card Stud tables.

This variation of poker rewards careful observation and memorization of cards and player tendencies.  A student of the game can make a lot of money playing 7 card stud, online or off!  This 7 Card Stud strategy article aims to help you do just that.

Seven Stud Hi Lo Poker Strategies :

In this game the high hand winner must split the pot with the player with the best qualifying low hand. There is always a high hand winner but not always a low. For a hand to qualify for low, it must have five denominations no higher than an eight. Any five of your seven cards may be played for high and any five can be played for low. Aces are played both high and low. Straights and flushes do not disqualify a hand for low, so a player ending with 5 4 3 2 A would have an unbeatable low hand and a 5 high straight to play for high. This hand would have an excellent chance of winning both ways.  In this example, the player could also have another hand that is higher than the 5 high straight to play for high.

Omaha Hold`em Poker Strategies :

In full ring, limit Omaha, it usually takes the "nut" hand, or something close to that, to win! . .For  purpose here, poker describe the "nut" as a hand that can only be beaten by hidden quads and straight flushes. These killer hands are usually referred to as the "pure" nuts. . . Two pair and trips don`t win very often in this game. You need to shoot for the nut straight, nut flush, or nut full house most of the time. . . This is why -

Omaha players all start with four cards. Each four card hand contains six Hold`em hands when the four cards are converted to all possible combinations of two. ie: ABCD = AB AC AD BC BD CD. (Players must play two cards from their hands and three from the board). If you are in a pot with five other players after the flop, it is sort of comparable to a Texas Hold`em game against thirty other players, because each of your five competitors is holding six Hold`em hands instead of one. So if you get down to the river with a very good hand, but one that can be beaten by some other two card combinations, brace yourself for a loss because they are likely to be out there somewhere.. . . Your high end straight on the flop runs into serious problems when the board turns up three suited cards or a pair. A flush or a full house will usually pop up to beat you. . . In Omaha, always play for the NUT!

Omaha Hi Lo Poker Strategies :

Omaha Hi/Lo is a game within a game. There is the ability to share the pot by having the best high or the best low hand. Alternatively you could win the whole pot by having the best high and best low hand or having the best high hand and no low hand exists. This is known as scooping. Of all the online poker variations, Omaha Hi/Lo would be one of the most complex to master. Accordingly Omaha Hi/Lo Poker Strategy is not the easiest to know well.

Not an easy game to master, Omaha Hi/Lo requires your online poker strategy to be at the top of its game. This Omaha Hi/Lo poker strategy guide will get you there.

There are many components to The Guide to Omaha Hi/Lo Poker Strategy :

    * Omaha Hi/Lo Poker Pre-Flop Strategy
    * Omaha Hi/LoPoker Flop Strategy
    * Omaha Poker Hi/Lo Turn Strategy
    * Omaha Poker Hi/Lo River Strategy

Omaha Hi/Lo poker is a spin-off from Omaha poker which is turn is a variation of Texas Holdem. Like Texas Holdem the game involves each player receiving down cards followed by a course of community cards being revealed after which comes a round of betting.

Like a good novel, a twist normally follows the unveiling of each community card and this guide looks at what to do both pre-flop, post-flop, at the turn and then finally at the river.

Five Card Stud Poker Strategies :

Five Card Stud is mostly a game of HIGH CARDS and PAIRS. Don`t play for straights and flushes unless you have three cards to a straight flush on third street, or it looks like you might luck into a straight or flush on fourth. With only one down card, it is easier than most games to put your opponents on hands. Pay close attention to how they each play. Usually don`t start without either a pair or at least one live card that beats the board. Usually fold if you do not have at least a pair in the first three cards. Almost always fold when you are beaten on the board and do not have a good draw to the best hand.
